Woman Tries To Film 'Low Dopamine Morning Routine,' Backfires Horribly

A woman has captured attention online after she attempted to film her "low dopamine morning routine"—but it certainly didn't go as planned. In a now viral video, TikTok user Simone (@thecognitivecorner) tried to capture what her "low dopamine morning" would usually entail, but what she ended up filming was comedy gold. The footage shows Simone reaching over to her bedside table and leaning on it, before it unexpectedly gave way. As she was stuck hanging out of the bed and her head almost on the floor, Simone, of Calgary, Canada, paused despairingly before managing to laugh it off. Simone, a trauma therapist and social worker, joked in the caption alongside the video that if she "wasn't awake before" this moment, she certainly was after. The video has left internet users in hysterics, and in just a matter of days it's amassed over 5.3 million views and more than 912,800 likes on TikTok. Dopamine is a hormone and neurotransmitter made in the brain, and is important for memory, motivation, learning, and movement, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Having low dopamine levels can lead to a lack of drive, tiredness, problems concentrating, moodiness, and feeling hopeless. The Cleveland Clinic also suggests that a dopamine deficiency can have an impact on physical and mental health. There are several medical conditions that are linked to low dopamine, including Parkinson's disease, restless leg syndrome, depression, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In certain cases, it's possible to increase dopamine levels naturally through eating a diet high in magnesium and tyrosine-rich foods (such as chicken, almonds, apples, bananas, oatmeal, and tomatoes). An alternative is to engage in activities that make you feel happy or relaxed, which could include exercise, meditation, playing with a pet, or reading a book. Fortunately, Simone was able to record her morning routine eventually, and she shared it on TikTok shortly after posting the amusing behind-the-scenes clip. She explained that her usual morning checklist includes keeping her phone in the kitchen to avoid looking at it for an hour, journaling or reading, skincare, house tasks, and making the bed. Indeed, the idea of low dopamine mornings has become an increasingly popular trend on social media, as many TikTokers, just like Simone, have taken to the platform to share their own daily routines.
