Pregnant Mom on 'Insulting' Question When Don't Have Kids of Each Gender

A mother has called out other people's weird reactions when you have more than one child of the same gender, and internet users are just as confused. Lindsey, whose full name is not disclosed, (@lindsey_thk), starts the TikTok video by telling viewers that "everyone acts like the world is going to end" if you were to have another baby of the same gender. The expectant mom, who already has three daughters, recalled what somebody had said to her husband if they were to have another girl, with others asking whether he will be OK and if they are trying for a boy. "Nope, I don't get to pick that; we're just going to have baby," Lindsey said in the clip. The May video, which has been viewed over 1.3 million views, garnered a lot of attention from other moms who left their advice on what she should say next time. One TikTok user commented: "Just respond by saying 'whoops! That's an inside thought' or 'how interesting that you feel comfortable saying that out loud'." Another parent of a daughter added to the confusion and wrote how they have never understood why some people tell her to be prepared for the teenage years. Others were quick to call out the differences of how girls are treated compared to boys. One user commented, "We're undervalued even before we are born", while another "girl mom" highlighted the comments to start saving for the wedding "as if that's all they're good for?" Lindsey, a labor nurse, also said in the clip that she received a call from the doctor's office that day to tell her the gender of her fourth child.
Mom calls out 'weird' behavior on gender

While making her TikTok video, Lindsey is preparing some cake pops to dye pink or blue as a gender reveal for her three girls: "That way, they can find out at the same time," she said in the clip. Referring to the comments she had received about her fourth pregnancy, Lindsey said that she found some people's reactions insulting if they were to have another girl. "We're thrilled with whatever gender this child will be," Lindsey said. She added that she and her husband didn't enter the pregnancy with a goal in mind and rather "just wanted another child to complete our family." One TikTok user commented: "Worst part of it is if it is a boy they go 'finally, now you are a complete family' like... what?" "I get that it's kind of insulting to insinuate that we would have like a strong emotional response to this baby being a fourth girl," Lindsey said in the clip. "That would just be bizarre behavior," she added. In a follow-up video, Lindsey confirmed on TikTok that she is having a boy. If you have a family dilemma, let us know via life@newsweek.com.
