Woman's 21-Year-Old Cat Dies, Then She Gets a Package From Her Groomer

Viewers can't hold back the tears after watching a cat owner who recently lost her feline bestie receive a special and personal gift from her groomer. Paige, who is known on TikTok as @paige.playsnext, has been going through the grieving process since her cat of 21 years died at the end of January. For the past four years, Alibi would go to the groomer because she had a hard time cleaning herself and knots would form. Alibi was always good at the pet groomer, Paige told Newsweek. She would even cuddle with the groomer while getting her hair dried. But this groomer had something special up her sleeve, knowing one day Alibi, her oldest client, would pass. The groomer started to collect Alibi's fur, and once she heard about the cat's passing, she turned it into a special commemorative gift. Paige shared the touching gift in a February 10 TikTok video, and now viewers are crying along with her.

The groomer made special ornaments and a heart out of Alibi's fur so Paige can hold and remember Alibi forever. "I was very overwhelmed with emotion because I really just thought she would send me a card and maybe a picture of Alibi framed. I did not expect something so personal," she said. So far, the clip has over 256,300 views, 48,800 likes and 546 comments. Viewers were sharing their condolences and in awe over the groomer's gift. "A quote that has helped me is 'Our grief is a reflection of our love.' This groomer is the sweetest soul," commented one viewer. "The amount of love that was put into that gift," said another. A third added: "I would literally not be able to do anything else for the day. I would be distraught."

Sending Sympathy to Pet Owners

With nearly 66 percent of households in the United States having a pet, most people will have to go through the grieving process for an animal. And if you don't have a pet, you most likely know someone who does. You want to offer your friend or someone you know your condolences when you hear about the loss of their pet. But, as this groomer did, you can also send something extra to help them during this difficult time. Daily Paws recommends supporting them one-on-one, fixing them comfort food or helping them memorialize their pet. Above all, the best thing you can do is be supportive, as the grieving process is different for everyone. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Send them to life@newsweek.com with some details about your best friend and they could appear in our Pet of the Week lineup.
