Sisters Think They Thrift Designer Bag for Just $14.99: 'There's No Way'

Thrift shopping can be a gamble, but two sisters have stunned the internet with the designer bag they found in Goodwill—and it was just $14.99. Julie Brichka of Vancouver, Washington, was enjoying a girl's trip to Oregon with her sister Alina Brichka and their friend Violet Kulchitskaya when they spotted a Goodwill store on the journey home. On a whim, they decided to look inside, but they were not expecting to come across such an amazing find. Alina headed straight to the purse section and couldn't believe her eyes when she spotted a green Artois PM Goyard bag. She instantly called her sister over to marvel at the treasure she'd found. Julie, 25, told Newsweek that she couldn't believe it was real, and what made it even better is that the bag appears to be "in perfect condition." The Goyard Artois PM tote bag is a staple of luxury, with the bags retailing anywhere between $1,700 up to $4,000. According to luxury auctioneers Sotheby's, the bags can only be bought new from Goyard's retail locations, and they do not sell online.

Customers trying to get their hands on one of these eye-catching designer bags often have to scour third-party retailers or auctioneers such as Sotheby's. Needless to say, this just adds to the allure. Julie said: "My first thought when I saw the bag was, there's no way that's real. My sister Alina called me and I ran over to the purse section. I might have let out a little scream of excitement when I saw the bag, which didn't have even a little scratch on it. "We were all so excited and didn't think twice about it before we hurried to the checkout. I'm sure the other shoppers were confused why we were so happy about a green tote bag." Alina bought the bag for just $14.99, a fraction of its usual retail price. As of yet, the bag hasn't been authenticated to prove whether it's a real Goyard bag or a dupe. The tote bag wasn't the only item they found that day in Goodwill, as Julie told Newsweek that they also found some "beautiful Ralph Lauren pieces," another handbag, and a Ralph Lauren wallet. She couldn't resist sharing a video of their thrifted treasure and posting it on TikTok (@juliebrichka). The clip went viral with more than 1.2 million views and 39,200 likes at the time of writing. Julie has been blown away by the overwhelmingly positive response to the video, as many of the comments even made her laugh. Some social media users have even responded to say they actually saw the sisters buying the tote bag that day. "The next day, my sister was being recognized at our local grocery store and people took photos with her. She still wears the bag, and it looks so cute with every outfit," Julie said. The viral video has amassed more than 160 comments on TikTok so far, as many people hailed the amazing thrifting purchase, while some questioned if it's real. One comment reads: "Wow! This just made me get up and go to the thrift." Another person wrote: "Okayy that's a steal." While one TikTok user responded: "fake or real, who cares? It's cute."
