A Gen Z influencer has shared a fashion rule that people are going crazy over, offering an easy way to always look "polished." The 28-year-old Miami-based Emily Andrade shared her tips for following the 2/3 rule, a simple yet effective way to look your best. Andrade shared what is behind the 2/3 method for effortlessly put-together outfits: always choose two out of three areas to focus on—hair, makeup, or outfit. Andrade credits this hack to a book she read years ago, Modern Etiquette Made Easy: A Five-Step Method to Mastering Etiquette by Myka Meier. She told Newsweek: "Essentially, having two out of three—hair, makeup, or outfit—done every day is a way to show up for yourself and the world in the best way you can."

"The basis of the 2/3 rule is to choose two out of three of the following to put effort into that day — hair, makeup, or outfit," Andrade explained. "For example, if you're having a lowkey day, do your hair and light makeup as your "two", then for your "third" wear a cozy matching set or athletic wear. Essentially, having two out of three (hair, makeup or outfit) done every day is a way to show up for yourself and the world in the best way you can." Myka Meier, who coined the term in her book, told Newsweek: "In my book, I came up with a 5 Step Method on how to completely revamp yourself into the most confident you have ever been, and this tip was included in the 'transform' chapter. "People constantly ask how to look polished fast, so I created a cheat sheet. My book is filled with little tips and tricks—one popular one is if you want to look polished, physically add polish, like nail varnish or a tie clip. In Modern Etiquette Made Easy, I say, 'Don't fake it until you make it, practice it until you become it,'" she said. For Andrade, who works from home and runs her own business, this approach isn't just about aesthetics—it's also about mindset. "Looking put together and following this rule not only helps you feel more confident but it also sets the tone for the day and can signal respect for your environment and others," she said.
