The weight of debt is heavy—and the relief of it being paid off is palpable.
This was evident in a video posted to TikTok by Sunny Hetrick (@sunny.hetrick), which went viral for revealing the moment her father discovered that her mother had paid off the remaining debt on their shared home. Since the video was posted, it has received over 767,000 views and over 163,000 likes.
"Watch the immediate relief when my dad finds out that my mom paid off their house," Hetrick captioned the video.

Hetrick's mother replied that she paid it off with money from a settlement, which Hetrick wrote in the comments was from a car accident.
Immediately, her father moved across the room to hug her mother.
"Boy, you know how to keep a secret," he said.
Viewers in the comments felt Hetrick's father's relief even through the app, and many expressed well wishes and congratulations at the achievement of a debt-free future living in their home.
"It's the 'sigh' for me...you immediately heard the load come off his shoulders," @pincheal wrote. "So happy for them."
"The relief...I felt it through the phone. That's a great Mom and an amazing wife to your father!" @jayayox wrote.
"That's what success looks like," @truthfrm65th wrote. "Full heart, full house, and everything paid for. What more can a person ask for?"
Some viewers pointed to what might be next for the couple after achieving such a goal: "Now they can go on trips," @valveezy wrote, to which Hetrick replied that that was her parents' plan.
"Now, just focus on filling that house with more love and memories with your loved ones," @devinhoback2 wrote.
In the video, Hetrick's mother moves away after the long hug only to be pulled back into the embrace by her husband, capturing the attention of thousands: "My favorite part was when she was about to walk away but he pulled her by the waist to bring her in for a big embrace," @randi_lynae wrote. "Cannot wait until I find that love."
"This is precious," @777spacecowgirl777 wrote. "The emotion. The love. Their little toes touching while they hug. So happy for them."
In the comments, Hetrick wrote that her childhood was seriously "the best" after a comment about her parents' calm demeanor. On her TikTok profile, she posts often about her parents and family, and their lives together.
