Bride's Pledge To Not Get 'Too Drunk' at Wedding Doesn't Quite Go To Plan

A bride who had pledged not to drink too much at her wedding quickly saw those plans unravel in hilarious fashion over the course of the night. Serving alcohol at a wedding is seen as something of a must for Americans today. According to a YouGov poll of 1,295 U.S. adults, 67 percent of respondents were firmly in favor of alcohol being served at weddings with 17 percent opposed. Alcohol is often seen as a means by which people can loosen up and socialize better on these kinds of occasions but it's not without its pitfalls. In a video posted to TikTok, Ashleigh Stead revealed how her sister Tanya had set out on her wedding day with the intention of not drinking too much. "When the bride swears she won't get too drunk at her wedding... ICONIC," a caption accompanying the clip reads. Tanya can be seen enjoying her first dance as a married woman at the start of the clip but, with the music behind the footage quickly building up in pace, it's clear things are about to change. The video then cuts to Tanya rolling backward onto a stage at her wedding in her full dress before then switching to a clip of her being carried aloft in the center of the dance floor along with her similarly overjoyed husband. Tanya doesn't do anything to disgrace herself and it's clear from the 22-second clip that she had a great time but it also seems that she might have failed to stick to her pledge to go steady on the booze.

Tanya got married on June 22 at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen in the U.K. It was a pretty big operation that she took much of the responsibility for. "I have been planning the wedding since November 2021," Tanya told Newsweek. "We had 128 day guests and about another 50 guests at night." Over the past few years, she attended as many as seven weddings, each time making notes about what worked and didn't work. "I tried to be very organized and I got a lot of help and support from my mum and sisters." That was part of the reason why she had decided not to drink much in the first place. "I said I wouldn't drink that much at my wedding so I could remember everything," she said. "It's been a long two-and-a-half years of planning and I wanted to remember everything. I wanted to remember speaking to everyone." While, like most weddings for the happy couple, the day itself was something of a whirlwind, Tanya doesn't have any regrets about how it all went and just laughs when she sees videos like the one her sister posted online. "I think the Prosecco tasted too good! Apparently I just keep stealing people's Proseccos!" she joked. "I had the best day," she added. "I've got lots of pictures and will get my video soon."
