Family Buy Dog for $100 From Craigslist, Not Prepared for What Happens Next

A family under the impression they were purchasing a 3-year-old dog quickly learned the dog they got from Craigslist was not what they expected. A stepfather was adamant about getting a dog listed on Craigslist for $100. With hesitation, the rest of the family followed his lead and welcomed Mason home. They quickly fell in love and learned the "young" dog loved to sleep, sleep and sleep some more. A trip to the vet uncovered that the so-called 3-year-old dog was actually 10 years old and unfortunately, he had major heart problems. The vet estimated Mason had about nine months to live, the March 26 TikTok video posted to the account @gabimendz stated. Determined to give him the best months, the family made Mason comfortable, surrounding him with endless love. And spoil them they did. He lived like a king with new haircuts, his own floaty for the pool, Halloween costumes, and Christmas presents. Mason loved his new life of luxury so much that he held on longer than the vet estimated.

The nine-month mark came and went after that fateful vet visit and Mason was still living life to the fullest. Then two years hit. Mason's last day at home was July 30, 2022, two years after the family bought him on Craigslist. While they gave him the best during his final years, the family feels they got more in return for what Mason gave them during the height of the pandemic years. The text on the video reads: "The best boy ever. We gave him a great end to his life but he gave us the best two years we could have imagined. I'll miss you always Mason."
