Tears As Dog Finally Gets Own Backyard, Unsure 'What To Do' With Space

Dog parents dream about the day they can provide their fur babies with a backyard they can run around in as much as their heart desires. But when that day finally came for one canine, she had no idea where to begin. Eve looked outside the door at the wide open space, then back to her owner Jenny in a throwback clip shared to the TikTok account @my.dog.dot on April 13. Her confused eyes held doubt; she did not know what to do. But low and behold, the yard was for Eve. Jenny walked outside with the dog to show her the ropes, assuming she would run around and enjoy the safe space to play, but Eve stuck by her owner's side. "Only walking next to me like on leash walks," the caption in the video explains as you see the pair walking on a path in the grass. "When we first showed her the backyard, it surprised me that she didn't really know what to do," Jenny told Newsweek via TikTok. "I guess I thought that would be instinctual." Instead of getting the zoomies in her backyard, Eve calmly walked around and kept off the grass. Not even a game of frisbee throwing or fetch would get the 4-year-old dog going.

Jenny wasn't surprised that Eve didn't run after the ball or frisbee as she was never much of a "fetch dog." Eve preferred to sniff the yard for fun instead, which Jenny believes comes from the hound mix in her. Luckily, Eve finally found joy in her own backyard after living in an apartment before they moved into the house. "She ended up really loving the yard," Jenny said. "Her favorite things were sunbathing in the grass, chasing squirrels, and sniffing the perimeter of the fence."

'Inside Princess'

The precious TikTok video brought on a whole bunch of happy tears as people couldn't get over how well-behaved Eve was during this exciting moment. As of Tuesday, the clip had over 732,400 views, 158,700 likes, and 464 comments. "She doesn't understand and being the goodest baby!" wrote a viewer. One TikToker said: "She's an inside princess." Others wrote what was likely going through the dog's mind: "She's like, 'Mom what do I do,'" while another commented: "She's like, 'When did we move to the park?'"
