Internet Shocked by Dog's Unexpected Reaction to Treat: 'So Sassy'

Dana Fischetti was shocked when her pet refused to eat a meaty treat. She believed her canine would devour turkey giblets after he gobbled up the neck. But it turns out dogs can be fussy as he appears to be disgusted by a piece of raw liver. Fischetti, from Milford, Connecticut, recorded the moment she excitedly tells her pet that she has a treat for him while holding the meat above his head. She asks the dog to sit and he obediently obeys her commands with his eyes fixated on the prize. After barking on request, he is thrown the meat which he catches in his mouth but instantly spits it out. Fischetti can be heard saying: "I don't think he liked it." She wrote: "He's usually a trash can but the liver was a hard no! Now he's going to be more cautious." So far, the viral video shared to @auntgladyss has amassed 1.6 million views and more than 233,000 likes. You can watch the video here. TikTok viewers will be shocked to discover that canines have the ability to distinguish the difference between "yummy and yuck" food, according to The American Kennel Club. Dogs have around 1,700 taste buds and the ability to identify sweet, sour, salty and bitter, like humans. This is why owners must be careful when it comes to leaving sweet treats around as some ingredients can be extremely harmful for dogs.

The AKC has pointed out that canines are more likely to be adventurous with trying new things if they have been offered a variety of foods as a puppy. They are also more likely to prefer warm over cold, dry foods. While raw meat isn't dry, it is cold so this could have been one of the reasons why the dog spat it out.
